Funeral services for Ethel Albin, age 82, of Shambaugh, IA, who entered into peace Sunday, January 9, 2011 at Westridge Care and Rehab Center, Clarinda, Iowa were held Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ritchie Funeral Home, Clarinda, Iowa with Reverend Laurel Westerkamp officiating. Burial was in the Memory Cemetery, New Market, Iowa Memorials may be directed to the Shambaugh Church of God. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on our website at, www.ritchiefuneralhome.com under Obituaries. Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of Clarinda, Iowa.

Ethel Fern Albin was born June 11, 1928, northwest of New Market, IA, Taylor County to William Elwood Reynolds and Zula Acel (Webb) Reynolds. She passed away January 9, 2011 at Westridge Care and Rehab Center, Clarinda, Iowa. Ethel attended New Market School; she left school at the age of 15 to go to CA. She was united in marriage February 21, 1944 to Navy Fireman 1st Class Robert Albin at Vallejo, California. They were blessed with four children, Robert, Jr., Sondra, Sherry and Terry.

Ethel worked at the Clarinda Mental Health Institute from the 1950's to 1974 in charge of the admission ward. She went to Herculaneum, MO and worked at Dunklin R5 School for thirteen years as janitor supervisor and drove a 70 passenger school bus. Ethel and Bob retired in August 1988 and moved back to Shambaugh, IA.

Ethel was a hard worker and put her heart and soul into all that she did. She enjoyed cross stitch work, quilting and word search. Ethel remembered everyone with her cards on birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and every special occasion. She also enjoyed eating out, watching TV and making candy. She was an active member of the Shambaugh Church of God and especially enjoyed her church family. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Preceding Ethel in death were her parents; daughter, Sondra at the age of 5 months and thirteen days (1949) and husband, Robert (April 1995).

Survivors include her son, Robert F. Albin, Jr., and wife Barb of Montezuma, IA; daughter, Sherry Myers and husband Daniel of Clarinda, Iowa; son, Terry Albin and wife Laura of Lawrence, Kansas; sister, Florence Ross of Braddyville, Iowa; grandchildren, Joel Myers and wife Kori; Marcy Webb and husband Jim, Chad Albin and wife Erika; Aaron Albin, Marlene Johnson and husband Eric, Marilee Albin, Dena Peiffer and husband Brian, Steven Taylor and wife Angela; great grandchildren, Jacob Webb, Mike Webb, Chris Webb, Kaylee Peiffer, Maksim Peiffer, Taylor Peiffer, Parker Johnson, Cole Johnson, Kinnick Johnson, Zoe Taylor, Zachariah Taylor, Olivia Taylor, Gunner Albin, Justice Greenberger, Judge Greenberger, Sargent Albin, Tyler Myers; several nieces; nephews and many friends.

Ethel will be missed by her family and friends
but her love and memory will live on in their hearts.
May God grant comfort and peace to those who mourn her passing.
