Memories & Candles
Gwen and Frank Jones are some of the people I remember most when thinking of my school years at Ross #1 Union School from 1952 to 1959.
(I started "primer" as we called it in the fall of 1952 and attended there until we moved to Page County in March of 1959.)
We had no running water at the school plus we had no well at the school so it was always a REAL joy to be selected to go

Dear Paul, Phyllis and Allen,
So many memories of days with you and your mother and father. What treasures memories store. I am so sorry for Gwen's passing. From times at your home, car pooling, visits, and your families concerns for mine, thank you. You mentioned how she liked to read. I recall her sitting by the window reading in the evenings waiting for Phyllis to get home--a story book picture. Knowing Gwen was a blessing to me.

Dear Paul and Family,
I remember meeting Gwen and Frank shortly after we moved to Bedford to work in Taylor County for the ISU Extension Service. Gwen and Frank were good family supporters to our young family during the six years we lived in Bedford. That relationship continued many years after we moved to Clarinda, especially at track meets where they were watching their grandchildren (your children) and our children competing in track events for Clarinda High School.
We are sorry that our Holiday travel schedule is not allowing us to attend Gwen’s Memorial Service.

Dear Phyllis, Dave, Paul, Margery, Alan, Laura, and families,
I'm sending my love and sincere sympathy to each of you. Gwen was a gracious, thoughtful, beautiful lady, mother and grandmother.
From our slumber parties on the farm in the fifties to our reunion on the farm in 2010, fond memories of Frank and Gwen were everywhere. They are memories I will treasure.
May God bring comfort to you at this time.
Love,
Carolyn Cummings

Dear Paul, Phyllis, Alan, and Families:
It is with great sadness that I learn of your mother's passing--but with remembrance of a long life, well-lived and to be celebrated not only for its longevity but also for Aunt Gwendolyn's graciousness. The last time I saw her was several years ago when Marvin and I happened to be in Bedford. We were walking along Main Street--just browsing in the antique shops--when we happened to see Aunt Gwendolyn on the street--at the

Paul, Alan, Phyllis and family: Kathleen and I send our love and support at this time of sorrow and loss. Truly your mother was a woman of grace, dignity, elegance, and love. I have so many, many great memories of visits to your mom and dad's place when they lived out on the farm as well as in town. What a wonderful heritage she has left with each of us. Heaven is blessed anew on this Christmas Eve. I will

To Paul and all of the family,
Rick and I are so sorry to hear of your loss. I have such wonderful memories of your dad and mom's incredible hospitality and warmth in accepting a young pastor (my dad) and his family into First Baptist Church and the Bedford community! Your dad was always a good friend to my dad and your mom was always so generous and cheerful. My parents always spoke so highly of both of them. They came

To the Jones Family, Our deepest sympathy to all of you. Gwen was a wonderful lady and neighbor. I know how much she loved daisies and thought about her every time mine were in bloom. She wanted so much to be able to raise them, but they just wouldn't grow for her. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you Enjoy your memories. The Tribolets
