Memories & Candles
My sister Carolyn let me know of the obituary of your Mother. I could recall many memories of days/evenings spent with you, Lois, and your mother's through 4-H. My brother takes the Bedford paper so we do keep up with a few current happenings. I am not very good at keeping up with friends of the past, doesn't mean I don't think of the many high school friends from Bedford, would be good to hear from you. I know that

I will remember my Aunt Mildred for her keen intelligence, her beautiful smile, and her indomitable spirit. She was cheerful, brave, hardworking, and always willing to help. She looked after my grandmother in the last years of her life and was a wonderful “big sister” to my mother. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. It is always so hard to lose Mom--and Mildred was such a dear one. When I think of her I have many
fond memories of our families together when we were young. Thankfully the memories we get to keep!

I knew Grandma D. longer than any of my other 3 grandparents. She was one of the nicest and most caring people I've ever met. She was one of the main reasons summer trips to Iowa will remain some of my most fond memories. I remember going to play golf and driving the golf cart. I remember countless card games where a seemingly aloof Grandma seemed to always "get lucky". I remember endless hours of ping pong in her basement.

My Grandmother was a warm, wonderful, loving woman. I feel honored to forever be her "favorite (though only) granddaughter." I am sad to see her go, but happy that she can watch over my boys as they grow. She will make an amazing angel.

Mildred had the poise of royalty, was a delightful conversationalist and was the most fearful Scrabble player I have ever known.

I am thankful to have felt the love and support of such a kind and gracious woman. Grandma D. was a cheerleader for all of us grandkids. Many warm memories of her.
