Memorial services for Bernard "Gee" Robinson age 69, of Clarinda, Iowa, who entered into peace Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Bergan Mercy Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska, will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church, Clarinda, Iowa with Reverend Andrew Rubenking and Pastor Gordon Scott officiating. Memorials may be given in his name. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on our website at, www.ritchiefuneralhome.com under Obituaries. Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of Clarinda, Iowa.
Bernard Dean "Gee" Robinson was born in Malvern, Iowa to Roy Robinson and Mae (Williams) Robinson on April 28, 1943. He grew up in Malvern and graduated from Malvern Community High School in 1961. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Wayne State College, Wayne, Nebraska and he received his Masters degree from Chadron State College, Chadron, Nebraska. He was united in marriage to Liz Cunningham on December 28, 1967 at North Platte, Nebraska. They were blessed with two sons, Brad and Ward.
Gee taught social studies in Malvern and Clarinda and coached football, basketball, track, baseball, and softball until he retired in 2001. He loved working with the kids whether in the classroom or on the athletic field/court.
Gee was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Clarinda, Iowa. He loved to go fishing as often as he could. He refereed volleyball for many years. Gee did ASVAB testing for the government at eastern Nebraska and Southwest Iowa schools for seven years. In his retirement he loved to get together with friends to talk over the latest game or just to tell stories or jokes. You could always tell Gee was in the room when you heard his infectious laughter.
Gee was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Jack and Kenneth Robinson.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Liz Robinson of Clarinda ; sons, Brad Robinson and Kim Alton of Hartsville, South Carolina, Ward Robinson and Andrea Miner of Clarinda, Iowa; grandchildren, Braden and Celia of South Carolina; sister, Frances Thaller and husband Robert of Malvern; twin brother, Vernon Robinson and wife Joyce of Omaha, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Carol Cunningham of Lincoln, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Katheryn Robinson of Red Oak, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Judy Robinson of Sylmor, California; and Lois Rowe and husband Dave of Hershey, Nebraska; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
May God grant comfort and peace to those who mourn his passing.
