Funeral services for Wilma Annan, age 78, of Gladstone, Missouri, who entered into peace Sunday, June 24, 2012 at NorthCare Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri, will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Ritchie Funeral Home, Clarinda, Iowa . Visitation with the family will be held 1-2 p.m., at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will be in the Polsley Cemetery, rural Yorktown, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Research Hospital. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on our website at, www.ritchiefuneralhome.com under Obituaries. Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of Clarinda, Iowa.
Wilma Annan was born April 27, 1934, in Clarinda, Iowa to Harvey Semmons and Sadie Viola (Miller) Simmons. Wilma grew up in the Clarinda area attending country schools, later attending Clarinda Schools and nursing school. She was united in marriage on August 5, 1954, in Kansas City, Kansas to Vernon "Ross" Annan. The couple lived in Kansas City for two years moving back to Shenandoah, Iowa until 1961, returning to Kansas City where they have continued to reside.
Wilma enjoyed being active with her children's activities. She was involved with her daughter's in Girl Scouts and a Den Mother for her son's Cub Scout troop. She loved to bowl and roller skate. Wilma enjoyed cooking, especially enjoyed baking and making candy for friends and family. Wilma was active in the church circles of the First Baptist Church of Shenandoah and the Lutheran Church of Kansas City.
Preceding Wilma in death were her parents; infant daughter, Linda Louise; sisters, Lillian and Rose.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Ross of Gladstone, Missouri; daughters, Deborah Gramlich and husband Christopher of Oakview, Missouri, Twyla Cochran and husband George of Kansas City, Missouri; son, Steven Annan and wife Jean of Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren, Kamell Clauson, Melanie Cochran, Connor Annan; sisters, Darlene Roberts and husband Dennis of Birmingham, Iowa and Minnie Marriott and husband Garland of Clearmont, Missouri; nieces; nephews; and many friends.
Wilma will be missed by her family and friends.
Her memory will live on in their hearts.
May God grant comfort and strength to those who mourn her passing.
