Graveside Memorial services for Marion Anderson, age 98 formerly of Bedford, who died Friday, May 11, 2007 at Centennial park Retirement Village in North Platte, NE will be held Friday, May 18, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in Bedford. Friends can call at the Ritchie Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Memorials can be directed to the United Christian Presbyterian Church. Marion Anderson, age 98, formerly of Bedford, IA, died May 11, 2007 at Centennial Park Retirement Village in North Platte. She was born April 11, 1909 in Bedford, the daughter of Dr. Karl B. and Dorothy Bedell Paschal of Bedford, Iowa. She grew to maturity in Bedford, where she attended and graduated from the public school. She graduated from Iowa State University in 1931 with a BA Degree. Marion taught 4th grade in the VanDyke, Michigan schools, a suburb of Detroit. In November of 1937 she was called home due to an illness with her mother, who died in May 1938.

In July 1938, Marion was appointed librarian of the Carnegie Bedford Public Library. After attending a course of Library Science at IA University, she took over the position of librarian.

On December 2, 1942 she was united in marriage to Donald M. Anderson of Bedford. While Don was in the Service as a Captain during World War II, they lived in Abilene, Texas and Denver, Colorado. After his discharge in December of 1945, Don enrolled in IA State University to become a veterinarian. They lived in Ames, Iowa until he graduated in June of 1950, head of his class. They then returned to Bedford where Don began his practice.

After her husband's death, November 20, 1993, Marion remained in her home that was built for Don and her in 1951.

In October of 2003, Marion moved to North Platte, NE to be near her granddaughter, Karen Brinker, husband Gary, and their daughter, Sunny Rae. She made her home at Centennial Park Retirement Village until her death.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don, his daughter, Sherry Coyle, and son-in-law, Sonny Coyle.

Survivors include granddaughters Kelli (Scott) Schultz, Karen (Gary) Brinker, and Kristi (Billy) Welch; great grandchildren, Jason, Andy (Jolee), Crystal, Courtney, Chas, Katie, Sunny; great-great grandson, Dylon; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Marion was a member of the National Honor Society, National College Sorority Kappa Alpha Theta, and a lifetime member of the Bedford Presbyterian Church.
